During the 2008 exploration season, an extensive program was conducted by EPL focusing on the sedimentary exhalative deposit potential of the northern Selwyn Basin. This work was completed at the time within an Area of Mutual Interest outlined in a Strategic Alliance between Eagle Plains Resources and Teck Resources, and included ground within and outside existing Permits and tenure held by EPL. The goal of the 2008 program was to produce defined targets that would be assessed in detail in 2009 in preparation for future diamond drilling.
The Snake Target was identified as a prospective area by regional silt geochemical analysis. It is anomalous in lead, copper, cadmium and zinc. Cadmium and zinc are indicative of sphalerite mineralization.
The goal of the 2008 work on the Snake Target was to evaluate the potential of the Road River and the Earn Group rock units for hosting SEDEX style mineralization. Rock samples were collected to obtain a background geochemical signature for the shales in the area, and silt and soil sampling was conducted.
This project is available for option.
